Our Company

Helping families in Minnesota and Iowa since 1908.

Goldberg Bail Bonds is Minnesota’s oldest bail bond company. As a third generation family-owned business, we are known for our trust, reliability, and confidentiality. We have made our company the top bail bond company in the state through loyalty and quick, reliable service.

A long-standing belief in business says that you should never hire friends or family. For over 100 years, we have done the opposite. We are a family business helping some of Minnesota’s most troubled families and we are proud to do it. Our staff is the most highly motivated and hard-working in the industry, and we provide outstanding service that is second to none.

Currently, we employ over half a dozen families as agents throughout the state- and countless more family friends. This provides a network of agents who will stop at nothing until they get you or your loved one released from jail as quickly as possible. From Northern Minnesota all the way down to Southern Iowa, we have the ability to post bail bonds throughout both states.

Over the last 100 years, we have seen the Minnesota community grow and evolve while still keeping to our traditions of honesty and reliable service. These values are deeply rooted in the history of our company,

That’s because we are not just a Bail Bond Business, we are a family business helping families. Our founder, Morris, son Bud, and now daughter Patti have been helping families for over 100 years, and over 3 generations.

Together, they have combined past lessons and a family-oriented mentality to inspire one of Minnesota’s oldest social services company in the state. As a family-owned business, we understand family issues. When someone you are close to is locked up it can be an incredibly stressful time. We are here to help you in your time of need. After all, life tends to bring unexpected situations where families come together to support each other in this difficult time, and will assist you in any way that we can.

Meet the Goldbergs

Morris Goldberg

Founder

Morris Goldberg immigrated to America from Prussia when he was 13 years old. His ability to speak Polish, Russian, and English allowed him to act as a translator for those having legal issues in the Minnesota Court system.

Morris founded Goldberg Bail Bonds in 1908 as a way to help families through difficult times. An entrepreneur at heart, he also opened two more businesses in St. Paul; a liquor store called Square Deal, and a barbeque restaurant called Road Buddies. Morris continued to run the businesses until he passed away in 1957.

Bud Goldberg

President Emeritus

Allen “Bud” Goldberg continued the family business, with the passing of his father Morris on January 29, 1957.

At first, Bud had second thoughts about running the family business. However, quickly became fascinated with the bonding business because of his love of getting to know new people.

Bud ran the company the way his father intended – with compassion, honesty, and integrity. Goldberg has been headquartered in Minneapolis since Bud opened the Minneapolis office in 1958.

After retiring, Bud and his wife of 55 years Lois, shared their time between Minneapolis and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Patti Goldberg

Third generation owner Patti Goldberg came to Goldberg Bail Bonds first as an employee in 1990, then worked her way up to owner with her father Bud’s retirement in 1997. One of the few female owners in the bonding business, Patti continues to run the business with the values established by her father and grandfather. Through her leadership, Goldberg Bonding Company remains strong, with agents servicing all of Minnesota and Iowa.

How does a bail bond work?

A Bail Bond is formally known as a “Surety Bond.” A friend, relative, attorney, or defendant pays us a fee for the Bail Bond and we put up the rest. Once the Defendant is released, their responsibility is to attend the hearings for that case.

What happens during the bail bond process?

A friend, relative, attorney, or the defendant will contact Goldberg Bail Bonds. During the initial conversation we will collect basic information. Once the paperwork is done and the bond is paid, we post the bond.
